Home Minister warns non-cooperation protesters about consequences

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal warned those in the BNP’s non-cooperation movement about the consequences of not paying their gas, electricity, and water bills, which could lead to disconnection of these services.

“If participants in the non-cooperation movement do not pay their gas, electricity, or water bills, they will face the same consequences as any other consumer, which could include having these services disconnected in their homes,” he said to journalists at the Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon.

Regarding BNP’s call to boycott the elections, the home minister said: “I have always said that the people of this country will not vote for them (BNP). The people have turned their backs on their activities, and that’s when they decided not to participate in the election. They are continuously planning activities to create instability and prevent the election from taking place.”

He added: “Since October 28, they (BNP) have continuously been engaging in arson incidents. They burned people inside buses, including helpers, and now they have started to uproot railway tracks. They burned four people in a moving train. They had also caused an incident in the Gazipur area before. They are continuously engaging in such arson attacks.”
