Two get life for killing man in Meherpur

 A court here today sentenced two persons to life term imprisonment for killing a man in Sahabnagar village under Gangni upazila of the district in 2020.

Meherpur District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Md. Shahdiullah pronounced the verdict this afternoon.

The court also fined them Taka 20,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment in jail each.

The convicts are – Emdadul Haque Inda, son of Ali Hossain, resident of Sahabnagar village and Khokon Ali, son of Shukur Ali, resident of the same village.

 According to the details of the case, on September 2, 2020, Chahir Uddin, when he reached the mahogany garden of Montu Miah, he was attacked by the accused and killed.

Akhre Ali, son of Chahir Uddnir, filed a case under section 302/34 at Gangni Police Station as the plaintiff.

The investigating officer of the case, sub-inspector (SI) Shafiqul Islam, filed a charge-sheet against them on September 9 in 2021 after the preliminary investigation of the case.

After examining the record and witnesses, the court found them guilty.

Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Pallab Bhattacharjee confirmed the matter.
