Standard public toilets should be ensured at petrol pumps and markets: Mayor Md Atiqul Islam——————————————Mayor Md Atiqul Islam has said that all petrol pumps, shops, markets and shopping malls under the jurisdiction of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) must have standard public toilets.DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said these things in a round table meeting titled ‘South Asian Exchange on Public Sanitation’ organized by WaterAid, Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Kimberly-Clark on Thursday (July 20) morning at Lakeshore Hotel in the capital.

These public toilets have to be done by the owners themselves. He also said that DNCC team will go and take legal action if these public toilets are not kept clean and well managed.DNCC Mayor said, ‘There are petrol pumps, gas stations, shops, markets and shopping malls, you must have public toilets. There should be separate toilets for men and women. I instruct you to take responsibility in public toilets and keep them clean. If not, our City Corporation team will go and take action.’He said, ‘I request you to install public toilets in every gas, petrol station and shopping mall. Also I am asking all the citizens including the civil society of the society, please use our public toilets and give your opinion on our ‘Sabar Dhaka App’. Because your opinion is also important.DNCC Mayor said, ‘Dhaka North City Corporation has 140 public toilets. The location of these public toilets is given in all Dhaka app of DNCC. If you open the app, you will see the locations.’The meeting chaired by Jatiya Press Club General Secretary Shyamal Dutta was attended by Gundu Sudha Rani, Mayor of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation, Telangana, India, Jakka Venkot Reddy, Mayor of Peerjadigura Municipal Corporation, Chiri or Mahaburjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Godawar, Nepal.
