Speaker inaugurates tree plantation programme

Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today inaugurated a tree plantation programme by planting a sapling on the premises of Parliament Members Club here.”Tree plantation is a continuous programme of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) as environmental protection is one of the most important issues in our country,” she said while inaugurating the programme.The speaker mentioned that climate change is not only adversely affecting people’s lives but it also creating various types of crisis on them. She called upon everyone to plant more trees to protect the environment and thanked those who participated in the event. On the occasion, Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury planted a mango tree and a rosewood sapling.Deputy Speaker M Shamsul Haque Tuku, Whips M Atiur Rahman Atiq, Iqbalur Rahim and Samshul Haque Chowdhury and lawmaker Umme Fatema Nazma Begum were present, among others.
