Missing youth’s body recovered in Faridpur

Police recovered the body of a young man, who went missing on Wednesday, from Boalmari upazila of Faridpur district on Thursday.The deceased was identified as Mijan Sheikh, 25, son of Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Rupapat union under the upazila. He used to work as a construction worker.

According to locals and police sources, Mizan left home on Wednesday afternoon and didn’t return home.

Later, at around 8:30 pm on Thursday, locals found Mizan’s body lying in a garden behind Rupapat Baman Chandra High School in the upazila and informed the police, said Boalmari Police Station OC Md Abdul Wahab.

Being informed, a team of police led by Daharnagar Outpost in-charge Azadur Rahman reached the spot and recovered Mizan’s body.

Later, the body was taken to the police station from the outpost and sent it to a hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.

Kabir Ahmed, sub-inspector (investigation) of Boalmari Police Station, said, “There are several injury marks on various parts of the body. His right eye was amputated and it was assuming that it was a murder.”

OC Abdul Wahab said legal action is underway in this regard.
